Scrabble Quilt

Dimensions: 45″ x 45″Scrabble Quilt
Completed: June 2000

Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted

Lots of people have been asking me about the pattern for this – there isn’t one!!  I just used the Scrabble Board layout for the centre squares, then bought myself a set of paper pieced alphabet blocks (but Marcia at Quilters Cache has a set for free now!)

This quilt was made so that my husband and I could take it on picnics etc and play Scrabble (our favourite game).  The quilt didn’t take me long, but making all of those little beanbags for letters took me until November!

Scrabble SetHere is the whole set – the pieces are kept in a dilly bag I made from a kit.

And a close-up so you can all see those stupid little beanbags!  They’re 1″ squares with the printed letters ironed on. :-)

Scrabble Beanbags

Post script, 2015. I think we only ever used this once! I also didn’t mention that this wasn’t traditionally pieced – I ironed blocks onto interfacing and then sewed seams together in one hit. It’s not a soft or cuddly quilt.
